Hope (n.) A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
My name is Hope, and while I currently call Ohio my home, I am a wanderer. Having been born just outside of Salt Lake City and moving to Ohio when my father retired from the Air Force, I have always had a strong desire to move back out west. Over the course of this blog’s run, I hope to have eventually lived in Montreal, Quebec; Vancouver, British Columbia; Chicago, Illinois; and finally, Burbank, California to pursue a career in… something.
Right now, however, this girl is attending Baldwin Wallace University outside of Cleveland, Ohio to study… things. With my degree, I hope to make a living as a music therapist… or teacher… or both… or intervention specialist… or background vocalist… and as a voiceover artist on the side. I actually have done some voiceover work– I currently provide the voice of Sarah in the Dayton Writers Movement’s audio drama, Unwritten.
In high school I was an honor student, graduating as the secretary of the National Honor Society and Key Club. In my school, I was known to be a firm believer in music education in public schools, especially as my school lacked a music program for many of my years there. Someday, I plan to return to my high school to teach.
When it comes to performance, I have been a theater usher and participated in several master classes and summer intensives. I was a Mezzo-Soprano in Les Miserables and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, though I am truly a Contralto. I have also just begun working in voiceover locally. In addition, I have sung solos in church and performed a capella with a few of my friends at the state and national level. I currently sing in BW Singers under the direction of Dr. Marc Weagraff, and might even give gospel choir a shot someday. I will admit that though I am talented at music theory and creating harmonics on the spot, I do not have the strongest voice. But, I can brag that I can sing some seriously deep notes. #ContraltoForLyfe
In my spare time, I am also a cake decorator, and have been paid to decorate for weddings and showers. I am also a library aide, and had a job as a substitute team gymnastics coach for about a day (I quit; I wasn’t fired). I also love the Family Circus comics, because they’re cute.
I hope I didn’t bore you to death! Now, go! Go read some of my posts!
